Africa Annual Fee Calculation Method

( 1 ) Patent validity period: 20 years from the date of application . The first annual fee shall be paid in the third year of the patent validity period. Each annual fee shall be paid within the last 2 months of the patent validity year and 6 months after expiration. If paid within the deadline, a 50% late payment fee will be charged. For example , if the application date of a patent is October 26 , 2010 , the first annual fee (the annual fee for the third year) should be paid between August 26 , 2012 and October 26 , 2012 , or in 2012 The annual fee payable is 1.5 times between October 27 and April 26 , 2013 .

( 2 ) The initial validity period of the design is 5 years and can be renewed 4 times for 5 years each time. The total period from the date of application shall not exceed 25 years. Renewal application should be submitted within the last 6 months of the validity period , and a 50% fee will be charged for renewal within 6 months after expiration .
