1) Log in to the South African patent search website  https://iponline.cipc.co.za/Account/Login.aspx (the official website of the South African Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office http://www.cipc.co.za/za/) *You need to register an account to query, and registration requires a South African ID.

Annual fee calculation method

(1) The term of patent rights is 20 years from the date of application, and the term of registration of a design is 15 years from the earlier of the registration date or the date of publication.

(2) The patent renewal fee shall be paid on the publication date of the journal (for sealing date, please refer to Article 47 of the Regulations. The date of publication in the journal is stamped as sealing, and the sealing date is the date of publication in the journal) or the third year period of Article 46 of the Law. The annual fee must be paid before the later of the expiration date and before the expiry of each subsequent year (can be paid in advance).

(3) For designs registered under the repealed Act, payment shall be made at the expiration of the first five years and the second five years, before the expiry date of the third year under Section 22 of the existing Act, and at each subsequent date. Pay before the expiry of one year.
