(1) Step one: Log in to the official website of the German Intellectual Property Office ( dpma.de/english/index.h) Click "DPMA register" on the left side of the homepage to enter the official publications and registration database page;
Step 2: On the official publications and registration database pages, select the patent type you want to query, and you can enter the patent query page (invention patent/utility model patent query page link entrance: register.dpma.de/DPMAre）。
(2) On the patent search page, enter the patent number/application number and click "Start search" at the bottom of the page to enter the patent page, where you can check the legal status of the patent, the validity maintenance date of the paid annual fee, and the next payment instructions.
(3) The legal status of the patent is valid.
(4) The effective maintenance date of the paid annual fee is 2021-05-31 and the next payment instructions.

German annual fee calculation method
(1) German patent annual fees: The payment year is calculated from the date of application. The protection period for invention patents is 20 years, for utility model patents is 10 years, and for design patents is 25 years.
(2) Example of calculation of annual fee payment date for invention patent: In the authorization notice, state the deadline for the next annual fee payment. For example, the patent application number is DE102015208317, the application date is 2015-06-02, and the authorization date is 2016-11-10. The deadline for paying the patent annual fee for the first time (the third year annual fee) is: before 2017-08-02.
(3) Note: A confirmation payment receipt will not be issued.
