During the International Economic Forum on the theme of "Russia Islamic World: Kazan Forum" held in Kazan, Oleg Neretin, President of the Russian Federation Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS), revealed to the media that the number of invention patent applications in Russia increased by 8% year-on-year in the first four months of 2023.

He pointed out that this is a quite important indicator. And, this is a positive indicator because any technology comes from ideas that must be protected. Obviously, patents are the most powerful mechanism for protecting intellectual property rights.
Various regions in Russia are working diligently. The Tatarstan region is one of the institutions that cooperate with the Russian Federal Intellectual Property Office (Rospatent), especially from the perspective of submitting invention applications. Niridin said, "In terms of application activities in Russia, Tatarstan ranks fourth." According to statistics, last year Rospatent received about 700 applications from the Tatarstan region and issued 600 patents. He also added that the number of applications involving computer programs submitted by Tatarstan has doubled.
