Tajikistan has recently implemented a new schedule of intellectual property fees for patents, trademarks and designs. This fee adjustment has had an impact on most expenses, with overall fees increasing by about 3%.
Under these amendments, the patent application fee was increased from 373.41 Tajik Somoni to 384.39 Somoni, an increase of about 3 percent.
There have been similar increases in annual fees, with fees for years 1 and 2 increasing from 482.05 to 496.22 Somoni, fees for years 9 and 10 increasing from 1,032.96 to 1063.33 Somoni, and fees for years 19 and 20 increasing from 3733.97 to 3843.74 Somoni.
Fees related to industrial designs also increased by about 3 per cent, from 321.62 to 331.08 Somoni for design applications containing less than three variants, and from 112.58 to 115.89 somoni for design applications containing more than three variants.
The annual maintenance fee for the exterior design is also increasing, for example, from 482.45 Somoni to 496.63 Somoni in years 3 and 4, and from 1586.91 to 1633.56 Somoni in year 15.
Trademark fees also saw a similar rate of inflation, with the application fee covering a category rising from 326.73 Somoni to 336.34 Somoni, and the increased fee for each additional category increasing from 160.84 Somoni to 165.57 Somoni.
