The Kuwait Trademark and Patent Office has updated its electronic system for filing patent applications and implemented a new online payment procedure for patent annual fees.

The annual patent fee payable time is summarized as follows:

one National/Local application (Paris Convention route) : at the beginning of each year following the year in which the application was made.

2. PCT National phase: Payment begins from the second year after the international application of the PCT application, at the beginning of each year.

The annual fee should be paid within 3 months (January 1 to March 31) and can only be extended until April 30 in 2023. After that, late payment should pay a late fee.

The annual fee for all valid patent applications must be paid through the new electronic system within a specified period. If the annual fee and any penalty are not paid, the title and rights of the patent will lapse.
