(2) Click on the patent name of the patent to check its legal status

(3) Click on "Register. Details" to retrieve the paid information for the patent

Starting from August 1, 2023, the Korean Intellectual Property Office will implement new official fee standards, including a 16% increase in substantive examination fees for invention patents, a 10% decrease in licensing fees and annual fees throughout the entire patent term. From the perspective of patent holders, this fee adjustment is a very popular measure.

1. Adjustment of actual audit official fees (Korean won)

The change in official patent examination fees applies to Korean applications submitted on or after August 1, 2023 under the Paris Convention pathway, or Korean applications entering the Korean national phase on or after August 1, 2023 under the PCT pathway.

3. Introduce incremental application fees for divisional patent applications

To reduce the number of cases where divisional applications are used as a means of maintaining the application or extending the examination period, an incremental application fee for divisional patent applications is introduced

Current regulations: Regardless of how many divisional applications are submitted, the divisional application fee is the same as the fee for submitting a new application.

4. Reduce South Korean patent transfer official fees

The transfer fee for Korean patent holders has been reduced to KRW 40000
